In most settings, the term "physiological plateau" is not established as common, shared language. Often, we use all kinds of terms and phrases to describe plateaus... such as the "rest and be thankful phase" or a "labour lull"... There is beauty in diverse language around this phenomenon, and at the same time, shared language helps us exschange ideas and form a shared understanding.
Please feel welcome to share the terms and phrases that you use, or that people around you use.
Do you have suggestions for a better term than "physiological plateau"? Be our guest! (It's a bit clunky, I know... it's just what we settled on for now to start sharing some common language... In the end, women who birth will have to define how they want to call this phenomenon. I think, it's not really a decision that birth professionals should make but we can certainly collect ideas! 😉)
Thank you for sharing!
Warmly,
Marina
